About The Harvard Crimson's
Summer Journalism Academy

The Harvard Crimson's SJA offers high school students an amazing opportunity to learn from current Crimson staff and get acquainted with media and media-adjacent fields. SJA aims to teach high school students the fundamentals of journalism—reporting practices, writing articles, the non-content aspects of running a newspaper—while providing insight on college journalism through current Crimson editors.

Over the course of the program, attendees will have exclusive access to presentations and workshops from all the Crimson Boards as well as a day for advice on College Admissions and creating a journalism portfolio. Various presentations, workshops, and meetings take place throughout the day from 9:00AM PDT until 3:30PM PDT/12:00 PM EDT until 6:30PM EDT. You do not need any prior experience with journalism to participate in the Summer Journalism Academy!

WHAT STUDENTS SAY

“My favorite part of SJA was getting to learn from experienced journalists who were still able to connect to high schoolers and thus teach more effectively”
